Look at the websites of technology studios and you’ll notice something: the story always ends at launch. Design, build, ship. Confetti. Then a quiet handover document, and a platform that starts ageing the day the last invoice clears.
We think launch is the halfway point.
The platforms that matter - the ones selling regulated products, settling payments, holding health data - don’t need a builder as much as they need someone accountable for Tuesday. Monitoring that notices before customers do. Incident response with a named human on the pager. Security triage every month, not after the breach. And a steady budget for making things better, because a platform that isn’t improving is quietly getting worse.
Some platforms we run, we built. Others we took over - other people’s code, mid-flight, documentation optional. Taking over a stranger’s codebase and making it dependable is an engineering discipline of its own, and we’ve practised it for years. One client has trusted us with theirs for seven years and counting; along the way they handed us systems another vendor built, and we run those too.
