Every multi-store retailer has the same quiet problem: the point of sale knows the truth - prices, stock, promotions - and everything else in the building is working from an old copy of it. In pharmacy retail the sharpest version of that gap sits at the shelf edge: the label a customer reads, and the price the register charges.
Electronic shelf labels solve it in theory. In practice, the label platform and the pharmacy’s point-of-sale software have to talk - and for one of pharmacy retail’s major software platforms, nobody had ever built that bridge.
So we built it - the integration, on an event-driven middleware platform we operate and extend in production: POS data in, converted, routed, and on the shelf edge within minutes, across every store. The change request that took it live said it plainly - the first integration between that platform and the shelf-label ecosystem. It now runs across three different point-of-sale ecosystems, because the architecture treats each new system as a plug-in, not a rewrite.
Two things about how it was built. First, it was AI-accelerated from the opening epic - generated code and generated tests, reviewed by senior engineers before anything shipped. Engineering, multiplied. Second, launch wasn’t the end of our job: we operate the platform, watch it, and answer for it. Launch is the halfway point.
If your stores run on systems that don’t talk to each other, that’s exactly the conversation we like. Bring us the hard problem.
