Digital care, as BigCommerce tells it

As BigCommerce tells it

In June 2026, BigCommerce published its own case study on the platform we build and run for Blooms The Chemist. Their story, their words: a federated network of 130 independently owned pharmacies delivering “digital care” on one platform - real-time inventory across every store, buy-online-pick-up-in-store, and regulated healthcare running through a retail checkout.

The engineering they chose to highlight is the kind we like being known for. “We had to make sure that if a customer bought something online for pickup, it was actually available on the shelf, so we couldn’t oversell or undersell,” as our co-founder Jim Watts put it in the piece. And: “We use the open checkout to extend core features, like preventing someone from purchasing certain items without a prescription.” When COVID-19 vaccinations needed booking at national scale, the same platform carried it - “we had to build a solution that would enable our community to get vaccinated quickly,” in Steven Muller’s words.

It isn’t the first time BigCommerce has put its name on this work: in 2020 they named 33BONDI the APAC winner of their Creative Problem Solving Partner Award, for the click-and-collect engineering behind the same client - accurate inventory allocation at the moment of purchase, online and offline merged. Their partner directory also features our event film, The Future Customer Today, with Blooms The Chemist’s CIO on stage.
